Our Purpose

The purpose of the MACK is to advance the arts in our communities.

We exist to serve as the visionary leader for the arts in our communities, stimulate and promote the arts, increase access to the arts, and produce arts programming for the benefit of community members. Our organization is headquartered in McCormick, South Carolina, primarily serving the surrounding region. We also support national and international arts initiatives. In addition, the MACK actively participates in economic and tourism development initiatives using assets and resources and includes the stewardship of the historic Keturah Hotel.

The Corporation shall operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of 26 U.S.C. (“the Internal Revenue Code”) Section 501(c)(3) and the South Carolina Nonprofit Corporation Act of 1994, as amended (“the Nonprofit Act”).

We believe …

  • Art changes lives.
  • Diversity creates a learning environment.
  • The arts are a critical part of a quality education.
  • Our regional talent adds value to our local economy.
  • Arts programming should be accessible to our citizens.
  • An inclusive organization promotes and sustains a sense of belonging.
  • Healthy engagement, inclusion, and social opportunities matter.
  • Partnerships and collaboration will benefit the entire community.
  • Respect, appreciation, and awareness of our local history build pride.
  • Young people deserve to have access to opportunities to explore, create and discover.
  • The arts and humanities add value, quality of life, vibrancy, and health to our region.
  • Supporting local talent, culture, and development will retain and attract citizens.
  • Arts encourage knowledge, understanding, and compassion.

We are the McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah — but you can call us MACK.

Art changes lives. That’s why the McCormick Arts Council exists, to provide access to the arts in McCormick County and to the surrounding region.
