MACK Rehabilitation Project Update:
The McCormick Arts Council is proud to share the next milestone in the MACK Rehabilitation Project at the historic Hotel Keturah (c.1910).
MACK Phase II is now Complete!
We are pleased to share that Phase II of our rehabilitation project is now complete, marking an important milestone in the restoration and long-term stewardship of our historic facility.
This phase included the completion of basement scope, advancement of the commercial kitchen and installation of the balustrade on our front porch, roof replacement with the addition of gutter guards.
The newly installed balustrade was carefully designed to retain and reflect the building’s historic character, reinforcing architectural continuity while meeting modern safety standards. Similarly, the roof replacement not only protects the structure for decades to come but also represents a critical investment in preventative care. The addition of gutter guards enhances water management and supports the long-term preservation of original materials and structural systems.
All work completed to date aligns with our National Park Service (NPS) approved rehabilitation plan and fulfills the requirements of our South Carolina State Historic Preservation Office (SCHPO) covenant. Delivering this phase in full compliance ensures we are meeting federal preservation standards while honoring the historic integrity of the property.
We achieved substantial completion on February 10, 2026. With this milestone achieved, the team is now focused on addressing remaining punch list items to ensure every detail meets the highest standard before we advance into our final phase.
Each completed component strengthens the safety, functionality, and sustainability of the building, preparing us for the continued restoration of full services, program expansion, and responsible long-term care of our facility and organizational infrastructure.
